How to Judge the Performance of Bearings

Answer: The working condition of bearings directly affects the power and efficiency of a vehicle. Here are 6 simple testing methods to analyze the working condition of bearings.

(1) Oil Cut-off Method: When the bearing is idling, cut off the high-pressure fuel pipes from the fuel injection pump to each fuel injector one by one, and observe the changes in the bearing's speed and noise. If there is no significant change, it indicates that the corresponding cylinder is not working properly; if there is a obvious change, the cylinder is working well.

(2) Temperature Sensing Method: After the bearing has been working for a short period, touch the exhaust pipe of each cylinder with your hand. If the temperature feels high, it means the fuel supply to that cylinder is excessive or the fuel injection advance angle is too small, leading to severe fuel consumption; if the temperature feels low, it indicates insufficient fuel supply to the cylinder, incomplete combustion, or the cylinder is not working.

(3) Sound Listening Method: While the bearing is operating, use a screwdriver to touch the main fuel injection pump body and listen to the detonation sound of each cylinder. If the ignition impact sound is intense, the fuel supply to that cylinder is too much or the fuel injection is too early; if there is no ignition impact sound, the fuel supply to the cylinder is too little, the fuel injection is too late, or the cylinder is not working.

(4) Pulse Sensing Method: When the bearing is working, touch the fuel pipe of each cylinder with your hand separately. If you can feel a regular pulse, the cylinder is working well; if there is no obvious pulse sensation, the cylinder is not working properly; if there is a pulse sensation but it is irregular, the cylinder has an oil cut-off phenomenon.

(5) Smoke Color Observation Method: Abnormal exhaust smoke usually falls into three types: black, blue, and white. If the exhaust pipe emits abnormal exhaust gas, it means each cylinder is working abnormally; if the abnormal exhaust is emitted intermittently, it indicates that a single cylinder is working abnormally. You can remove the exhaust pipe to check the smoke emission of each cylinder.
