Thrust Ball Bearings: Technical Characteristics & Applications​

Thrust ball bearings are rolling bearings specifically designed to withstand axial loads (forces parallel to the bearing’s axis direction). Based on structural differences, they can be categorized into single-direction thrust ball bearings (capable of withstanding axial loads in only one direction) and double-direction thrust ball bearings (capable of withstanding axial loads in both directions). They are widely used in industrial scenarios with low rotational speeds and high axial loads, such as machine tool spindles, automotive gearboxes, crane hooks, printing machinery, and textile equipment.​

Core Characteristics​

In terms of core features, this type of bearing adopts a classic structure consisting of "seat rings + shaft rings + steel balls + cages." The contact area between the steel balls and the raceways is small, resulting in a low operating friction coefficient, which enables smooth axial force transmission. Some models are equipped with dust covers or sealing rings, which can effectively block the intrusion of dust and impurities, extending the service life. However, it should be noted that thrust ball bearings cannot withstand radial loads; during installation, axis alignment must be ensured to avoid bearing damage caused by eccentric loads.​

Most thrust ball bearings on the market are made of high-purity bearing steel or stainless steel, and support customization of different precision grades (such as P0, P6, P5). This allows them to meet the differentiated needs of ordinary industrial equipment and precision machinery.​
