For bearings with hardened soft thin oil or anti-rust paste, immerse them in hot engine oil at 100–200°C. Hold the bearing with pliers and clean the oil stains on the bearing with a brush. When the soft thin oil or anti-rust paste is heated to 100–200°C, it will melt and can be easily washed out from the gaps of the bearing.

Occasionally, if you shake the bearing several times in the oil, the oil stains will also flow out from the gaps (during cleaning, the rolling elements, cage, inner ring and outer ring should also be disassembled). Soak the bearing in gasoline for 5–10 minutes, hold the inner ring with one hand and rotate the outer ring with the other hand; the thin oil or anti-rust paste on the bearing will flow out.

Then put the bearing into cleaner gasoline, scrub it with a brass brush to clean the oil stains in the rolling elements and gaps. Then soak it in gasoline for another cleaning, take it out and place it on a clean piece of paper.

When cleaning radial spherical roller bearings and short cylindrical roller bearings, the rolling elements, cage, inner ring and outer ring should be disassembled for cleaning.
